8 Backyard Activities For Summer Fun

Enjoy your backyard in Colorado this summer!

Summers are meant to be enjoyed, and there’s no better place to do that than your own backyard. Here at American Turf & Tree Care, we wanted to give you some ideas on how best to enjoy your yard while the weather is warm and the sun is shining. Whether you want some alone time, or want to spend quality time with the family, this list will help you relax and enjoy your yard after a long week of work.

Bocce

This game is a lot of fun, and doesn’t require any setup. All you need is a lawn, a few balls, and you’re ready to go!

Hammock

Who doesn’t enjoy some R&R in a hammock? Whether it’s after a long day of work or during the weekend, any time spent in a hammock is relaxing and well deserved.

Croquet

This classic game is always a lot of fun, but you can also make a kick croquet set using hula hoops. Just cut hula hoops in half, put them around your lawn, and buy kickballs to play with.

Backyard Bowling

You can set up wood boards to use as a bowling lane, or if your lawn is well maintained just use your grass. Make bowling pins out of soda bottles and use tennis balls or baseballs for the bowling ball.

Bean Bag Bowl Toss

For this fun game just a few giant bowls and some bean bags - the dollar store near you will probably have everything you need. Make signs for each bowl with the amount of points you get when your bean bag goes in it and you’re ready to play.

Yard Twister

You can get ground marking spray to use on your grass so it doesn’t ruin your lawn. Get yellow, blue, red, and green and paint dots in your yard. Make the board as big as you want so lots of people can play. This would be a lot of fun at a birthday party!

Giant Jenga

If your kids love Jenga, this is going to be a huge hit. Most home improvement stores will cut wooden boards any size you want. Just get a lot of boards cut the same size, and then you can even have the kids paint the ends of each piece. Just like that you have a Giant Jenga set!

Passing Practice

Cut squares out of a tarp and line the inside of the edges with colorful duct tape. Write how much each square is worth below the square and tie the tarp up between a couple trees. You can use baseballs, footballs, or even bean bags to throw at the tarp in order to score points.
