Tree Pest Control in Northern Colorado

Your trees work hard to make your yard beautiful, and when they're thriving, they can completely transform the look and feel of your outdoor space. The last thing you want is a pest quietly doing damage beneath the bark, threatening everything you've worked to grow. Unfortunately, Colorado's climate creates the perfect conditions for a number of destructive insects that can move fast and cause serious harm if left unchecked.

That's where we come in. We've been helping Northern Colorado homeowners protect their trees from damaging insects for 44 years. Our experienced technicians know the local pest landscape inside and out — they know what to look for, when to look for it, and exactly how to stop pests before they have a chance to take hold. Whether you're dealing with an active infestation or just want to make sure your trees are protected going forward, we're here to help with a friendly, personalized approach and treatments you can feel good about.

Common Tree Pests We Treat

Colorado's climate brings some particularly stubborn insects that can cause serious damage to your ornamental trees and shrubs. Here are a few of the most common culprits we deal with:

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

The Emerald Ash Borer is one of the most destructive invasive insects in the country — and it's right here in Colorado. EAB larvae tunnel into the trunks and lower branches of ash trees, damaging the heartwood and the tissue just beneath the bark. This interferes with the tree's ability to move water and nutrients, and if left untreated, it can be fatal. If you have ash trees on your property, early treatment is key.

Lilac Ash Borer

Similar to the Emerald Ash Borer, the Lilac Ash Borer is another wood-boring insect that targets ash trees and lilac shrubs. These larvae cause similar damage — boring into branches and disrupting the plant's vascular system. Our technicians are trained to recognize the signs early and step in before the damage becomes severe.

Other Common Tree Pests

Beyond borers, Colorado trees can fall victim to a range of other insects throughout the year. Our team performs a thorough inspection to identify any pest activity and tailor a treatment plan specific to your trees.

Your Lawn and Trees, One Team

When your yard needs attention, the last thing you want is to call one company for your lawn and another for your trees. Our lawn care technicians and certified tree doctors work together under one roof, so everything gets handled by a team that already knows your property.

That means one call, one bill, and no juggling between vendors. Whether your grass needs a treatment plan or a tree needs a health evaluation, you get consistent service from people who see the full picture of your yard, not just one part of it.

Signs Your Tree May Have a Pest Problem

Not sure if you have a pest issue? It can be tricky to tell, especially since a lot of pest damage happens out of sight deep inside the bark or root system — long before visible symptoms appear. Here are a few things to watch for:

  • Unusual holes, cracks, or tunneling in the bark
  • Sawdust-like material (frass) at the base of the tree or along branches
  • D-shaped exit holes in the bark (a telltale sign of Emerald Ash Borer)
  • Thinning canopy, dying branches, or sudden dieback in one section of the tree
  • Yellowing or wilting leaves outside of the normal season
  • Bark that appears to be splitting, cracking, or peeling unexpectedly
  • A noticeable decline in your tree's overall health or appearance over a season or two

Keep in mind that some of these symptoms can also point to disease or nutrient deficiencies, so it's always a good idea to have a professional take a look rather than guessing. The sooner we can assess what's going on, the more options we have for effective treatment. If you're noticing any of these signs, don't wait and give us a call and we'll come take a look!
